This is a V-shaped, groove centering bearing - aimed at ultra smooth and precise performance.

We've always loved experimenting with grooved bearings, but they've always been a little hit and miss for us. While they offer precise centering, we've found that they've often ran a bit louder and required more maintenance than usual. Not sure exactly why, but it didn't matter which brand or manufacturer we tried, all of the grooved bearings we tested seemed to be similar in this way.

After speaking with our manufacturer about some of the issues we were experiencing with our favorite grooved bearings, they recommended that we try them out with a their nylon PA66 bearing cage as opposed to the standard stainless steel cages that they generally use. We were skeptical at first, but after giving it a try we were blown away by how much quieter and smoother they played - right from the jump, AND they required almost no break-in period. We had a small run of these custom made with PA66 cages and no shields. We're really loving them so far!!!

The manufacturer boasts that the PA66 cage was specially developed to offer better performance, with a lower noise and improved spin times. The nylon cage weight is also much lighter and has lower friction when spinning at high speeds (compared to steel cages). In theory, these arguments should result in a much quieter performance and offer longer spin times.
